In the production of breakfast cereals, a cooling step is required after the application of the sweet slurry. Schaaf uses cooling drums adapted to the production capacity of the extruder used. In these drums, the products are cooled with ambient air by a low-pressure blower. The special drum profile ensures uniform circulation of the product and reliable separation of product agglomerates.
The cooling drums are also used for the production of filled coextrudates. The product strands coming from the embossing machine are ventilated and cooled in the cooling drum until the embossed seams harden, become brittle and gently separate into individual products by rotating the drum.
